Meaning in English

Each verse bows to Mahalakshmi, salutation to you. She is the great cosmic power seated on Shri, worshipped by the gods, holding conch, discus and mace; mounted on Garuda, remover of all sin; all-knowing and all-granting, terror to the wicked and remover of every sorrow. She grants attainment and wisdom, enjoyment and liberation; without beginning or end, the primal power, white-robed and adorned, seated on the lotus, the very form of the supreme Brahman and mother of the world. The closing verses promise that the devotee who recites this hymn gains fulfilment, and reading it once, twice or thrice daily removes sin, brings plenty and destroys enmity.
